Michael Debono Ltd (MDL) is seeking to appoint an experienced Accountant to join the Finance team.

The Position

 

  • Assist in the preparation of the monthly management statements for MDL in a timely manner to allow the review of the company’s financial performance;
  • Assist the Financial Controller in the month end process for MDL ;
  • Own MDL GL reconciliations in line with delegation from FCs;
  • Supervise and monitor the work of Finance Officers in line with Group policies and procedures, accounting standards and fiscal requirements;
  • Support the Finance Officers in the daily monitoring of cash settlements, accounts receivables and accounts payables as necessary;
  • Execute policies and procedures to administer the Finance Department and financial areas within the company in collaboration with Finance Management;
  • Actively look for and propose improvements to the manual and electronic processes utilized in the Finance Department to carry out day-to-day activities;
  • Manage, lead and motivate junior members of the Finance Department on a continuous basis in line with the culture of the Group;
  • Carry out any other duties as may be reasonably assigned by Management;
  • Monitor the day-to-day financial operations within the company, such as accounts payables and accounts receivable;
  • Liaise with the auditors for the preparation of the audited reports;
  • Assist in the completion and submission of tax returns;
  • Manage the related party transactions reconciliation process, ensuring timely monthly reconciliations;
  • Carry out any other duties as may be reasonably assigned by senior management;

 

 

The Requirements

 

  • Qualified accountant with 3 years working experience
  • Strong accounting technical knowledge
  • Highly analytical with a passion for problem solving
  • Proficient in the use of Excel, Microsoft Office and accounting programs
  • Able to work in a dynamic environment
  • Very good team player
  • Proven track record of meeting deadlines
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in Maltese and English
