Overview

The Team Lead for Used Vehicles plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of the sales team, overseeing customer interactions, and managing trade-ins with the utmost integrity. This role is responsible for aligning team performance with company goals, optimizing customer satisfaction, and contributing to the profitability of the used vehicle sales division. Honesty is an essential requirement, especially in areas related to trade-ins and third-party interactions.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership & Performance Management:
    • Ensures all sales team members understand their roles in the sales process and monitors their performance against agreed targets.
    • Leads by example, encouraging skills and behaviors that reflect the company’s brand values.
    • Monitors both individual and team performance against agreed sales targets (volume and profit), collaborating with the Senior Sales Manager to review progress and implement action plans where needed.
    • Manages the sales team daily to ensure targets are met, providing guidance, support, and coaching where necessary.
    • Supports recruitment processes, including shortlisting CVs, interviewing, and onboarding new team members.
    • Monitors staff training needs, ensuring development plans are in place and up to date.
  • Sales Process & Customer Interactions:
    • Attends to customers for test drives and quotes, ensuring excellent customer service.
    • Follows up on leads and quotes, accurately recording all data in CRM systems.
    • Monitors team follow-ups on a regular basis to ensure no sales opportunities are missed.
    • Drives the achievement of B2C used vehicle sales revenue and profitability targets.
    • Ensures finance penetration is met, taking corrective actions if necessary.
  • Trade-In Management:
    • Honesty is paramount when handling trade-ins. The role requires maximum transparency, ensuring all trade-in valuations align with company policies and that customer expectations are managed fairly.
    • This task must be conducted in close collaboration with the Senior Procurement Executive. If the Sr Procurement Executive is not on-site, pictures of the trade-in must be shared, and agreements regarding the offering to the client must be confirmed in writing.
    • Ensure all trade vehicles are processed with all documentation weekly.
  • Operational Excellence:
    • Ensures all sales, administrative, and consumer finance processes are followed to company standards.
    • Manages standard discount levels and oversees case-by-case discount decisions.
    • Responsible for coordinating the photography of used vehicles in collaboration with the Marketing department for social media and marketing campaigns.
    • Communicates product updates and offers to the sales team, call center, and marketing teams.
    • Ensures vehicle and aftersales prices on databases, sales tools, and websites are accurate and up to date.
    • Ensures showroom standards are upheld.
  • Collaboration & Coordination:
    • Works closely with the Sales Admin team to ensure smooth documentation and registration processes, enhancing customer experience.
    • Liaises with fleet and procurement teams to ensure stock management and compliance with service level agreements.
    • Coordinates goodwill gestures and customer discounts, balancing customer satisfaction with profitability.
  • Customer Experience & Compliance:
    • Responsible for ensuring customer data is handled in line with GDPR regulations.
    • Ensures health and safety standards are adhered to across the team.
    • Resolves customer complaints in a timely and professional manner, focusing on maintaining high customer satisfaction.
  • Administration & Reporting:
    • Oversees the accurate and timely approval of timesheets and leave requests in the system.
    • Maintains the daily lead files and weekly follow-up reports.
    • Manages the issuance of commission reports and confirms accuracy with the team.
    • Ensures the “fire up” and “fire down” procedures are completed.
  • Strategic Involvement:
    • Contributes to the management team, helping drive the business forward by implementing strategies aligned with company objectives.
  • Ad-Hoc Duties:
    • Takes on additional responsibilities as required to support the business, ensuring flexibility and responsiveness in a dynamic environment.

Requirements:

  • Prior experience in automotive sales, particularly in used vehicle sales.
  • Leadership experience, with a proven track record of managing a sales team.
  • Familiarity with CRM systems and sales tools.
