Job Description

Overview

The Finance Manager is responsible for the appropriate handling of financial transactions (accounts receivables and accounts payables), their recording, as well as the generation of reporting of financial information, typically through the presentation of management accounts (monthly or quarterly). 

Job Responsibilities

  • Monitor the day-to-day financial operations within the company, such as accounts payables and accounts receivables.
  • Generate monthly or quarterly management accounts in line with accounting standards.
  • Review the company’s financial status and performance to identify areas for potential improvement.
  • Seek out methods for minimising financial risk for the company.
  • Research and analyse financial reports and market trends.
  • Provide insightful information and expectations to management to aid in strategic decision making.
  • Review financial data and prepare monthly and annual reports.
  • Present financial reports to board members, stakeholders, executives, and clients in formal meetings.
  • Stay up to date with technological advances and accounting software to be used for financial purposes.
  • Establish and maintain financial policies and procedures for the company.
  • Understand and adhere to financial regulations and legislation.
  • Liaise with the auditors for the preparation of the audited reports.
  • Assist Group officials in the generation of consolidated accounting reports when required.
  • Authorise payments against a set credit limit.
  • Oversee and participate in general management functions, including management meetings, the recruitment of team members, and the handling of the company’s performance management process for the finance team.

Skills, Qualifications & Attributes

  • A tertiary level of education with a degree in Accounting or equivalent, such as ACCA.
  • Three years post qualification experience working in a finance role.
  • A warrant to act as an Accountant as issued by the Malta Institute of Accountants.
  • A conscientious approach to work and a high degree of integrity.
  • An organised and methodical approach.
